IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

2008 HMF INTERNATIONAL FILM/MEDIA FESTIVAL & CONFERENCE

To those who have submitted conference abstracts, art/photography, and films/television segments/PDA's for the 2008 HMF International Film/Media Festival & Conference:

Because of the mass number of submissions for conference abstracts, film, and art/photography, and the interest in the HMF Film/Media Festival & Conference, including for attendance purposes, we are taking the opportunity to move to a larger venue, which will necessitate new dates, taking place in 2009. We will have further information when it becomes available.

For those who have already submitted material, you need do nothing—it will automatically be considered for the new dates and venue of the Festival & Conference when they are determined.

Should you like to opt out of consideration because of the Festival & Conference's postponement, please contact us via the e-mail address below, and we will refund your submission fee for film/television/PSA and art/photography.

In the interim, we will be continuing to accept submissions for conference abstracts, film, and art/photography until January 1, 2009.

The HMF will also be working with a major publicity agency to publicize the Festival & Conference internationally, including for its new venue and for its new dates.

The larger venue and new dates will be announced in January 2009.

Additional information:

CONFERENCE ABSTRACTS / PAPERS

For accepted conference papers (again, the new deadline is January 1, 2009), we are in negotiations with an international academic and mainstream publisher to compile all papers into a book which will be distributed internationally following the conference, with all appropriate publicity by the HMF and the publisher.

FILMS / TELEVISION SEGMENTS / PSA's

Films showing at the Festival portion of the Festival & Conference will be eligible for your choice of either exclusive or non-exclusive digital distribution by the HMF and/or its partners, with other international distributors invited as well to the Festival & Conference so that filmmakers and producers will have further opportunity to promote their films for international promotion and licensing purposes. This is in addition to the publicity which will be generated at the Festival & Conference to promote all such films.

We want to make sure that your films receive as much attention and opportunity as possible for international exposure and distribution.

ART / PHOTOGRAPHY

For art/photography, we will be securing a larger gallery space with full publicity during the festival and conference, including an art opening covered by the press. Artists/photographers will also have the option of selling all art/photographic work, with a 50/50 split between the HMF (with such percentage going to HMF international art/photography grant programs) and the artist/photographer.
