- As a student of media (I'm currently in my second year of a PhD in Film, Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Pittsburgh), I'm often bombarded with questions as to why certain forms of media, like feature films, matter. I have often framed the question more specifically: can feature films and media in general affect the unmediated world? Now, since I'm an international student and have been so for nearly eight years, I owe my awareness of the rest of the world to all forms of media. From there I begin to answer the question on why media matters and why they deserve to be studied.

- I'm a graduate of the United World College of South East Asia, located in Singapore, which is one of twelve institutions that constitute the United World Colleges movement.

- Immigration rights and women's rights.
- What are your favorite musicians/films/books which are related to or inspired by humanitarian issues?
